Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 17, 2026
GameGrind develops and publishes GridSpell. This policy explains what information we use to run the game, this website, and player support, who helps us process it, and how you can make choices or ask us to delete your data.
This policy covers GridSpell on Android and iOS. The services and advertising networks used can vary by app version, platform, country, and your privacy choices.
The short version
- Unity Gaming Services helps us sign players in, save cloud progress, provide game settings and content, diagnose crashes, and handle in-app purchases. Optional gameplay analytics is a separate choice.
- Your progress can include completed levels, daily and event rewards, stickers, and the words recorded in your journal.
- Ads are managed through Unity LevelPlay and participating advertising networks. They may use device identifiers and information about ads and app activity.
- Google Play handles Android store purchases and Google Play Games Services. On iOS, Apple handles App Store purchases and Game Center.
- You can ask about your information or request deletion at hello@playgridspell.com. Our deletion page explains the steps.
Reading this policy does not replace a consent choice. Where consent or another permission is required, we request it separately.
Information we collect
Player accounts and sign-in
Unity Authentication creates a player ID so the game can recognize you. This can include a persistent ID for an anonymous player, session credentials, and identifiers from an account you choose to link. Depending on the sign-in option, we may also process a player name or display name. We do not receive your Google or Apple password.
If you use Unity Player Accounts, Unity handles your email address and Unity Player Account ID under its own account terms and privacy notice. That account is separate from your GridSpell player record.
On Android, Google Play Games Services can provide your Play Games player identifier, gaming profile information made available to the game, and sign-in credentials used to link your game account. The information available depends on the permissions and features you use. Signing in through Play Games does not by itself give us access to your Google password or email inbox.
Progress, rewards, and your journal
The game stores information needed to keep track of your play: levels completed, words found, daily grids, event participation, rewards, stickers, settings, and purchase entitlements. Where account sync or cloud storage is enabled, these records can be linked to your player ID and processed through Unity Cloud Save. Some information is also stored on your device.
Essential game services
We use Unity Cloud Save for cloud progress, Unity Remote Config for game settings and configuration, and Unity Cloud Content Delivery for downloading game content and updates. These services process information needed to respond to service requests separately from optional Unity Analytics collection.
Cloud Save processes your Authentication Player ID and IP address. Remote Config processes your IP address, installation-specific identifier, user identifier, and Authentication Player ID when available. Cloud Content Delivery processes your IP address to deliver content; Unity states that it irreversibly hashes the address upon ingestion.
Turning off optional gameplay analytics does not disable service requests needed for account access, cloud progress, game settings, purchases or content delivery.
Gameplay analytics
We use Unity Analytics to understand how people play and where the game needs work. This can include player and installation identifiers, sessions, app version, device and operating-system information, IP address, and gameplay events such as level progress, game modes, rewards, and purchases.
We use this information to find difficulty problems, improve puzzles, understand which features people use, and assess game performance. We do not intentionally put names, email addresses, passwords, or support messages into custom analytics events.
Crashes and technical problems
Unity Diagnostics helps us investigate crashes, errors, and performance problems. Reports can include an installation ID, crash traces, error logs, device and operating-system details, app version, and technical information around the problem. We use Unity Diagnostics for crash reporting; this is separate from gameplay analytics.
Please avoid putting passwords or other sensitive information into a bug report.
Purchases
We use Unity In-App Purchasing to work with the platform’s store. Google Play processes purchases on Android; Apple processes App Store purchases on iOS.
The game and the services used to verify or restore purchases can process product identifiers, transaction or order identifiers, receipts or purchase tokens, purchase status, and entitlements. The Unity IAP version and enabled features can also affect which player, installation, device, and session identifiers Unity processes.
We use purchase information to provide what you bought, restore eligible purchases, resolve purchase problems, and prevent fraud. We do not receive your full payment-card details from Google Play or the App Store. Their payment and purchase records are governed by their own privacy notices.
Advertising
Unity LevelPlay manages ads from participating networks. The advertising providers covered by this policy include Unity Ads, the ironSource ad network, Google AdMob and Google advertising services, Meta Audience Network, AppLovin, and Mintegral. A particular build or ad request may use only some of these providers.
Depending on the SDK, platform, region, and permissions, these services may process:
- advertising or other device identifiers, including Android’s advertising ID and, where permitted, Apple’s IDFA;
- IP address and approximate location derived from it;
- device model, operating system, language, app version, and network information;
- ad requests, impressions, views, clicks, rewarded-ad completion, and related app activity;
- diagnostics and signals used to detect fraud or measure advertising; and
- age-related restrictions, consent choices, and other privacy signals passed to the SDK.
This information is used to deliver ads, award earned ad rewards, measure performance, limit repeated ads, prevent abuse, and personalize ads where permitted. A network can process data when its SDK is running even if another network supplies the ad you see.
Support and website data
If you contact us, we receive the details you provide, such as your email, name, message, device, app version, and any player identifier needed to help you. Cloudflare hosts and protects the website. Zoho hosts our email and delivers contact-form messages. We use your information to reply, investigate problems, and handle account or privacy requests.
If you request a testing invitation, we use your Google Play email to contact you about the test and, if invited, add you to the tester list. A website request does not enroll you in Google Play testing or subscribe you to marketing.
The website’s hosting and security services process information such as IP address, requested pages, browser details, and timestamps to deliver the site and limit abuse. The website currently has no advertising or website-analytics cookies. The mobile game and its SDKs can use local storage and device identifiers as described above.
Why we use this information
We use information to provide the game and purchases you request, maintain accounts and progress, answer support requests, improve puzzles, diagnose problems, deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations.
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on the basis appropriate to that activity: performing our agreement with you, consent, legal obligations, or legitimate interests in operating and improving the game and protecting players. We use consent where required for advertising, tracking, or analytics. You can ask us for more information about a particular use.
Service providers
We share information with providers only for the services described in this policy, to meet legal requirements, to protect rights and security, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information for money.

Some providers act on our instructions; others also act as independent controllers of information for their own services. Their notices explain those uses and their privacy-request processes. The providers used in a particular version can vary as described above. We update this policy when a new provider or a material change in data use needs to be disclosed.
Advertising and your choices
Where required, we request consent before starting optional analytics, personalized advertising, or tracking. Relevant privacy choices and age-related restrictions are passed to LevelPlay and supported partners.
Use the privacy controls available in your version of the game to review or change your choices. You can also use your device’s advertising settings to manage advertising identifiers or ad personalization. If you need help finding a setting, contact us at hello@playgridspell.com.
The optional gameplay-analytics choice controls Unity Analytics collection. Essential game-service requests described above continue when optional gameplay analytics is off. Advertising consent and device tracking permissions are separate choices.
Refusing personalized ads does not necessarily remove advertising. You may still see contextual ads, and limited data may still be processed to deliver them, protect against fraud, or provide requested features where permitted.
Some U.S. state laws treat certain advertising disclosures as a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising even without payment for the data. Where those laws apply, you can exercise applicable opt-out rights through the game’s privacy controls or by contacting us. We honor legally required opt-out preference signals where applicable. We do not knowingly use children’s information for personalized advertising.
iOS and Game Center
On iOS, Game Center can supply a game-scoped player identifier and profile information needed for sign-in or Game Center features enabled in that version. Achievement or leaderboard information, where those features are used, can be visible according to the service’s settings. You can manage your Game Center profile through Apple.
Where Apple’s rules require it, an App Tracking Transparency prompt asks for permission before tracking across other companies’ apps or websites or accessing the IDFA for that purpose. Refusing that permission does not prevent ordinary gameplay. App Store purchase information is used as described in the purchases section. Platform permissions and in-game consent choices are separate controls.
Retention
We keep personal information for the purposes described here, then delete it or remove identifying information when it is no longer needed, subject to the exceptions below.
- Player records and progress: Unity Authentication records generally remain until you or we delete them. Linked game records are kept as needed to provide your account and progress and are included in an applicable deletion request.
- Analytics: Unity Analytics normally retains raw event data for 13 months. Some reports or player-profile information can remain until deletion is requested or we remove it.
- Diagnostics: Unity’s current Diagnostics service has a default personal-data retention period of 90 days. Service configuration and records needed to investigate an unresolved issue can affect retention.
- Support: We generally keep correspondence for up to 24 months after a request is closed.
- Testing invitations: We keep unsuccessful requests for up to 90 days, and invitation records during testing and for up to 90 days afterward, unless needed for a related support issue or legal obligation.
- Purchases and legal records: We keep records needed to provide entitlements, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or meet accounting and legal requirements for as long as those purposes require. Google, Apple, and other providers can have their own retention obligations.
Deletion may take time to reach provider systems and backups. Information already made anonymous so that it can no longer reasonably identify you may remain.
Your rights and deletion
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; opt out of certain advertising uses; or appeal a decision about a request. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. Withdrawing consent does not change the lawfulness of earlier processing.
To make a request, use Support and select Account or data request, or email hello@playgridspell.com. Our account and data deletion page explains what to include. You can make a request after uninstalling the game. We may need to verify that you control the relevant account; never send us a password, session token, or sign-in code.
A GridSpell account deletion request covers the player record and linked game data we control, including applicable progress, journal, reward, and sticker records. Analytics and diagnostics requests may require separate provider procedures or identifiers. We handle the relevant requests for data we control and explain any information we must retain. We aim to complete verified requests within 30 days unless applicable law allows or requires a different period.
Deleting GridSpell data does not delete your Google account, Play Games profile, Apple Account, Game Center profile, or separate Unity Player Account. Unity Player Accounts can be managed through Unity’s player account portal. A deletion request does not cancel or refund a store purchase; contact the store for purchase and refund requests.
Children
GridSpell is a general-audience word game. It is not designed or marketed specifically for children. Children may play subject to applicable age restrictions and parental-consent requirements.
We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information in a way that requires parental consent without obtaining that consent. Where age-related restrictions apply, advertising and data collection must follow those restrictions. We do not knowingly sell or share children’s personal information for targeted advertising.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided information that should not have been collected, contact hello@playgridspell.com. We will review the request and delete or restrict the information as required. Relevant age thresholds vary by country; in the United States, these protections generally concern children under 13.
International transfers and security
Our providers can process information outside your country. Where required, transfers use applicable safeguards such as approved contractual terms. Unity Analytics primarily stores customer data in the European Union, while other providers and services can process data in other regions.
We use measures such as encrypted connections, restricted access, and provider security controls to protect information. No system can guarantee complete security.
Changes and contact
We update this page and its date when the policy changes, and provide additional notice or request consent where required.
GameGrind is responsible for the GridSpell data described here except where a provider acts independently. For questions or privacy requests, email hello@playgridspell.com or use GridSpell Support.
